On 27/07/2023, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated its 85th Raising Day with great fervor and enthusiasm at the CRPF Campus in Hallo Majra, Chandigarh. The event was marked by a series of activities to honor the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to safeguarding the nation.
On this momentous occasion, 5 Signal Bn CRPF joined hands with the Green Planet Society to carry out a remarkable Miyawaki forest plantation drive within the CRPF Campus premises. The plantation drive aimed to enhance the green cover, promote environmental conservation, and contribute to a sustainable future.
The celebrations commenced with a ceremonial function by CRPF personnel, showcasing their exemplary discipline and commitment to duty. Dignitaries and esteemed guests from various walks of life graced the occasion, paying their respects to the valiant officers and personnel of CRPF.
Speaking at the event, Shri Jasbir Singh Sandhu, IG, NWS, Shri Kewal Singh, DIG, NWS, Shri Sukhjit Singh Rana, DIG Range Chandigarh, Shri Vishal Kandwal, Commandant-5 Signal Bn and Shri Prem Singh, Commandant 51 Bn expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the brave CRPF personnel for their unwavering dedication and exceptional service to the nation.
The highlight of the event was the collaborative Miyawaki forest plantation organized by 5 Signal Bn in association with the Green Planet Society. This nature-based afforestation technique, popularized by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, involves planting a dense variety of native trees to create a self-sustaining forest ecosystem in a short span. The plantation drive saw the enthusiastic participation of CRPF officers, personnel, and members of the Green Planet Society. Sh Vishal Kandwal speaking on the occasion emphasized the pivotal role played by CRPF in maintaining peace, law, and order across the country.
